Why Focus on Smallholder Farmers?

The rationale for focusing on smallholder farmers stems from their extensive, yet underutilized, holdings of vaible land. Under our guidance, sustainable practices are introduced, converting these plots into profitable tree farms. This not only addresses the issue of wood scarcity but also enhances biodiversity, contributing substantially to the stabilization of the local and global ecological systems.

As these tree farms develop, they become commercially viable sources of timber and other forest products, creating consistent revenue streams. Reflecting on the positive outcomes of our recent initiatives, Juliet Namwanje, our Executive Director, shared insights from the successful pilot project in the Kyankwanzi District. She noted the project not only demonstrates the viability and scalability of our approach but also underscores its considerable benefits. “The success we're seeing offers a clear path to expand our initiatives, potentially aiding partners beyond our current geographic scope,” said Namwanje.
